What can you do now that we were not able to do a year ago

Every year we decide to be a new person and say that it will be a changeable year. Suddenly a pandemic year appears, hope we don’t go back to that year, where everything changed. 

Thousands of people around the world have died, most of the others have lost their jobs, and the economic situation is dropped down. we have changed our thinking and priorities in life.  

I am very thankful that I didn't lose any person from my family, this year learned how parents are important in our lives so I have to spend more time with them, and put them first in my priorities. 

Now, I think more about doing new things that I was not able to do a year ago, for example, I am going to start reading more books and develop my language skills, complete TD, exercise more, and do healthy habits.

However, this year is going to be harder for me because I am going to have a baby, and I have many chores to do, so time management is the title of the year to be able to do what I didn't do the last year.

My experience online through 2019- 2020

 

Teaching is not easy as you know, and what do you know about teaching online?!
2019, where we started our new experience of distance learning, where the teacher throw all the lessons plan outside the window and start to prepare videos lessons. It was very difficult, really the first video I did, I have to repair it about 7 times until it is good enough to be downloaded. I have learned the strategies that I am in front of the students and they are repeating and learning from me. Video after video, everything is fine and I can do more ideas and interesting videos.

Of course, nothing is impossible all of us make mistakes, and it is okay. I said to myself that I have to like myself to succeed in sending my message. parents are watching, kids want to learn and all the eyes are looking, and the ears are hearing and the hands are writing.
It was me as I am teaching in class, I prepared funny lessons and activities, and all the students who joined the sessions were very happy.
The only thing, that I am sad about is that students who didn't able to join the online session are not able to go through their class now. I hope we don't go back online, not because of my tired but students should learn and not all of them can go online due to many reasons.

Students should be taught when working online to avoid problems

It is very important to the kids to learn what does online words mean. In our school first year, we didn't join the live sessions, online was as learning videos and homework so that it parents turn to the teacher. children were enjoyed watching the videos but it was boring, the cause is that they are not engaged as in class.

Throughout 2020, we go on live classes part-time from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and here we go!

In this experience, I have learned that kids are so smart and they can learn easily from technology, but here are the tips that students should be taught so that the online will work.

1. Self-confidence: students should be motivated in sharing, and participating without the fear or the shines from their friends or parents to make mistakes. here both teacher and parents play the role to help them through the good atmosphere and the attractive games and lessons.

2. Time and procedure management: students should be taught how to use time and prepare all the materials that they need during the online session. Here it is the teacher's job to send a day before what will be going on for the next day.

3. Depend on themselves: students should know how to join and go through the session alone this will help them to be dependable. this will work from 5 years, old students. Last year most of my students were able to do that, although as they are going to the school.

4. Privacy: students should know that while online it is as you are in school, there are rules, respect, and features. Thus, you are not able to open the camera and video until you are alone, to share only things about lessons. students should learn that online is the same as you are in class but the difference is that you separated. Here it is the parent's role to put their kids in a good situation and atmosphere.

Challenges you face when learning/teaching online

 Learning Distance, Ohhh God yes we are in a development situation where everything is updated but we still need many things to have a successful Learning distance. We are in LEBANON! Shall I be sad, cry, or what!

Last year we taught online, I will not say it was not successful at least it worked about 45% with students. This average is according to my Class in my school.

I have faced a lot of troubles, such as connective problems, electricity, and damage to my laptop. besides that, some students are not able to join online classes due to the lack of internet, or they don’t have tools.

Throughout my teaching, I didn’t face problems in introducing and planning lessons. yes, it was difficult for me at the beginning, how should I speak in confidence, how to keep students engaged and active, but in the end, everything worked perfectly.

BUT the big trouble is now that the students who didn’t attend the online classes are not able to do the demanding work this year🤦‍♀️, many teachers are saying that students don’t know anything!

where is the real problem? Is it from online learning? Is it from parents? Is it from teachers! 

who is the RESPONSIBLE of that?

How to be a digital citizen

 To be a digital citizen you have to develop your skills and knowledge to effectively use the internet and digital technologies. 

Now a days, most of schools are updated and they have technology in their classes, such as tablets, Digital board, internet...So, now there is more opportunity to the students to become engaged citizens using the technology tools.   

Teachers role now is to be trained on how to be a citizen in order to let her students engaged through it.

In my school, we have attended a various training to apply what the school is going to use, like the digital board, using activeinspire app, Eschool Home app and so on. 

using these technology is very difficult, teachers should practice on her work in order not to fail and to have the best form of a digital citizen. Teachers should practice and plan different styles of teaching lessons, in this way students are able to learn more. by the time you will see students can imitate you and add new things from their characteristics because you are the Role Model to them. 

Even the students, now they are able to use there tablets and phones at home to use the Eschool home app and take a look what homework or assignment do they have. 

Last year, when we had learning distance, some of my students of 5 years old they were able to open their laptops and the tablets and use the application and entered the sessions alone, first I was choked then it was really a great pleasure to see how a small minds can do this.

 Students today are empowered with a whole new box of tools with which to act. Online spaces can amplify students' voices while breaking down barriers to civic participation. . But the question here, Is it good or bad to open this box to the kids?

Of course parents, and teachers should support the kids in putting digital citizenship into action, and to use them in the right way.

My opinion about integrating technology into teaching

 My opinion about integrating technology into teaching is that students need this new technology. We have to enhance the students learning. Use different types of technology in the classroom, so learners will be active and engaged. during class sessions, much simple technology can engage students and make them enjoy the lessons. such as songs, videos, power points, games. Therefore, students do not need their tablets to succeed with technology, in my school we use the activeinspre app and it helps teachers and students in many things. there is a voting browser and students can use it to answer questions in different ways.

Nowadays most the schools are using digital boards and new technology and of course, we need this because all kids of this generation are engaged with technology and cell.

What I learned from EDUC561 class?

 EDUC561 Class, in general, I like technology so much and it is my passion to use new tools and create different methods especially in teaching. Some concepts or apps  I already knew them and I am so interesting in the rest. I enjoyed the class because it is so interactive even I am not attending due to the electricity but when I re-watch the recording it has a sense of spirit.
 I would change nothing, everything is clear. I hope that I didn't face connective issues during the sessions.
